What You Should Know About Auto Shop Owners Group
The Auto Shop Owners Group (ASOG) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to training automotive shop owners to perform at their best in the industry. Since our humble beginnings in 2015, we’ve worked hard to develop an avenue for professionals to develop the best possible versions of their shop, staff, and values. Today, we operate under the vision that a rising tide lifts all boats, and believe strongly that facilitating a better tomorrow starts by focusing on solutions today.

Our History
The story of ASOG begins in 2015 with Lonsdale Auto Works owner Scott Pelava. As a struggling professional looking for guidance and support, he found himself reaching out for help by posting questions in an automotive Facebook group.
Unfortunately, many of these answers were unhelpful or confusing, with some coming from people who did not have experience running a business. Frustrated by the lack of support, Pelava decided to start his group. This was the birth of the Auto Shop Owners Group — a resource created for and by automotive professionals.
The goal of ASOG was (and still is) to assist auto shop owners in solving shop-related problems with a no-holds-barred approach to sharing information. The group grew quickly, reaching nearly 100 members over the first few days. Scott began creating rules for moderators and setting up more robust structures of support, and after more than eight years of continuous growth, it reached a whopping 7,000 members in the ASOG public Facebook group. The rest is history.
ASOG eventually became an official nonprofit organization, offering scholarships, training, and podcasts to all its members. Today, we’re proud to manage a 501c3 educational organization that’s striving to support the betterment of our industry and the hardworking professionals who shape it.
Although the Auto Shop Owners Group has grown tremendously over the past few years, the initial mission and vision have remained the same. The goal is to help shop owners find solutions to their problems and move them forward so they can elevate their shops and industry.
